August 2013 Velasquez Family Update

Dear Pastor, Congregation and Friends,

Summer is almost over and life will go back to normal. People are returning from their vacations and the kids will go to school again soon. As usual things sort of die down in Spain during the months of July and August but thankfully not in the ministry that God has given us. Here is a brief summary of what God has allowed us to do for his glory this summer.

June: Once again we celebrated “Friend Day” at the church in Parla and it was a huge success. We had a record attendance of fifty-five people. We had twenty-one visitors in total! It was really great to watch our people get involved. One lady alone brought nine different friends. Two of them have been attending services regularly since friend day. Their names are Carmen and Antonio. Please pray for their salvation. Our next-door neighbors came as well. God really blessed.

I have been praying for young people for a long time. For a while we only had adults at the church. Thankfully God has now given us a group of nine young people. Most of them are lost. We started a youth meeting once a month and have seen these kids attend faithfully. We believe they are the key to reaching Spain with the gospel. Continue praying for these young people to get saved.

July: We started a new church in Colmenar Viejo, Madrid! Thank you for your prayers and generous giving. We would like to thank Calvary Baptist Church in Ashland, OH and Unity Baptist Church in Ripley, MS for sending a special offering towards outfitting the building for church services. We are humbled by your great love and generosity. We had fourteen first-time visitors from Colmenar Viejo at the inauguration. A few have been attending services regularly. We have many things planned for September and October at the new church.

August: This month has been very busy mainly because we have moved to Colmenar Viejo. We feel that we need to live among the people if we want to reach them effectively and disciple and train the believers. This has been our third move in less than three years. It’s not easy but change sometimes is necessary for the furtherance of the gospel. I will continue working with my father in training men in both churches. Thank you once again for your prayers and faithful support. God Bless.
