August 2014 Velasquez Family Update

Dear Pastor, Congregation and Friends,

It has been a busy time for us during the past three weeks. We are back in the states and finally settled. The Lord has provided everything that we need and more. We have a vehicle and a house for the duration of our furlough. We are excited to be here and give a report to our supporting churches as well as visiting new churches but we can’t wait to get back to the work that God has called us to do. Every week we receive reports of the work in Spain. My parents, Julio and Andrea Velasquez are doing a great job taking care of both churches. They are not alone, however. God has raised up leaders from within the churches that are teaching the Bible, sharing the gospel with others and discipling new believers. The work of God is multiplying in Spain and we praise God for that.

Two weeks ago Flavius was Baptized! He is on fire for God. He has expressed a desire to be in full-time ministry and wants to be trained. We pray that God would continue to work in his life and that we would see more young people come to know Christ. They are the future of Spain. He was able to attend a youth camp along with Jessica, a young girl from the church in Colmenar. They really enjoyed it. Please pray for Jessica’s salvation. We believe that she is very close to placing her faith and trust in Jesus Christ. Right now things are a little slow in Parla because August is a vacation month. Attendance is down but things will pick back up in September. As of yet we haven’t been able to move into the new building. Pray for wisdom as we make plans for the future. What is sure is that the work of God must go on! We want to reach more people and for that we need a bigger building.

The work in Colmenar is going great. We started the church a year ago and it’s exciting to see how God has blessed in this short time. The Lord has given us a core group of about twenty already. They meet every Sunday and Thursday. During the mid-week service we have a Bible study and several unsaved people attend. Please pray for their salvation. One of the goals for our furlough is to raise more support so that we can do more in the ministry. We want to continue to saturate Colmenar with the gospel. We want to use every means possible to reach them. Eduardo Sedoski is showing great leadership in the work in Colmenar. He is faithfully serving and inviting his friends. God is greatly going to use him and his family. We believe that God is actively working in Spain and penetrating the hearts of people. There is so much work to be done. Pray for the work in Spain. Thank you for holding the rope for us. We truly couldn’t do this without you. God Bless.
